Thistle sailing

My son, David, took kids & adults out for a sail on Mission Bay. The boat is a Thistle and named Next Generation. Everyone enjoyed their sail.

Ready for the party.

Shane (grandson) turned 4 and we celebrated his birthday at the Mission Bay Yacht Club with lots of friends! This was the scene early morning before anyone showed up. Just me and the birds ( and son David) ;-)

Red Sails

Breakfast this morning at the Red Sails restaurant on Shelter Island (San Diego). Shane is 4 years old and I'm here helping him celebrate his 4th birthday. Favorite breakfast spot for us (kid friendly) with a table overlooking the big boats at a marina. These red and blue "sails" provide shade above the outdoors dining area.

Hwy 5

It was a beautiful drive south on Hwy 5 from Sacramento area to San Diego. This was a rest stop in the central valley area. Love those clouds!

More clouds ...

I'm still in Reno (that's downtown in the photo) and continue to enjoy the clouds here, can't resist taking "just one more photo". Hope you enjoy them too.

Clouds

Reno had snow again today, light scattering of huge snow flakes off and on. Finally around 6 pm, the sky started to break with these beautiful clouds, but then an hour went by and the skies were black. What a day!

SNOW in Reno

I'm at my Dad's in Reno, looked outside at dinner time and saw beautiful snow flakes coming down. Isn't this May 21st???? What's up with this snow? It's not really sticking any place except for the sheltered area of the fence -- so that's the photo of the day. .

Decrepitude

Decrepitude (n) The quality or condition of being weakened, worn out, impaired, or broken down by old age, illness, or hard use. Pretty much describes this truck -- I'm drawn to these old trucks, the texture, peeling paint. More to come, especially of this old Chevy. (Photo taken at Pt. Reyes)

Lupine

This past Saturday I was fortunate enough to take a photography workshop from Jimmy Katz (The Art of Abstract Photography, Pt. Reyes). It was a great day of exploration & learning some new techniques. One technique was taking 3 exposures and in camera, they are combined into one image. Actually, it's easier to do than to explain in words! I was happy with the way this one came out.

For info about Jimmy see his web site at www.riverjourneys.com/jameskatzphoto.html

My Dad is 95 years old today. Happy Birthday!
We celebrated his birthday this past weekend with friends and family, birthday cake and ice cream (his favorite).

Baja shell

I'm still playing with my 105mm Sigma lens. Pulled out this shell from my bowl of Baja shells. Many happy memories associated with these shells -- I collected all of them from the beautiful beaches in Baja California.

More rose petals

Another spring storm brings another foot of snow up in Truckee. In Sacramento we just had rain, some hail and lots of wind. What's up with this weather? Just got home before the next storm hit, ran outside to pick roses before the wind and rain damage them. Used my 105 mm macro lens and Kenko extension tubes. I love the soft colors on this one.

Rose petals

I love this time of year in my garden. Roses and iris are blooming, and I can cut plenty of flowers for my kitchen table. I used my 105 mm macro lens and Kenko extension rings to make this photo of the rose.
